March 11, 2010
The Bahati Foundation announces the Bahati Foundation-OUCH Youth Track Program. The Bahati Foundation has partnered with Brent Kay, M.D. and the OUCH Sports Medical Center to provide coaching, education and mentoring for talented youth from under served communities within Los Angeles county. The program will focus on after-school and summer sessions held at AEG’s world-class Home Depot Center Velodrome.
Widely recognized as America’s Track Cycling leader, Dr. Kay and OUCH bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the local community based program. “Our goal is to provide a unique experience for the local youth, one that is heavily weighted on education. We will strive to provide the tools for future success, both on and off the bike, by focusing on hard work, perseverance and dedication. “My goal is to develop character and a sense of professionalism in an effort to help these kids realize their biggest dreams.” Said Dr. Kay, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Loma Linda University School of Medicine.
The Bahati Foundation recognizes this program as the cornerstone of its cycling outreach programs. “Having started in cycling through a similar after-school program I am grateful for the support of Dr. Kay and the OUCH Sports Medical Center. It is exciting to be able to offer some of the same experiences and opportunities I had to kids today.” Said Rahsaan Bahati, founder of the Bahati Foundation.
